Well it’s finally happened.. after thinking/talking about it for so long I have finally had the time to get another healing class to max level (being alone in the US has obviously helped with this lol). I got her to 76 before the expansion but just ran out of time with my US trip being planned and wanting to spend time with my girl friend etc.

Enter DrQuinne my Disc Priest

I had a couple of objectives with leveling another healing class;

To broaden my knowledge of healing and hopefully gain some insight into those other people hanging in our healing channel
To provide a viable alt for guild alt runs. I have no interest in DPS (I fall asleep more often than not) so this was a good option

I would like to be able to have knowledge of all healing classes but I’ll get this one geared up before firing up another alt

I thought I would post a quick update cause I know things have been ultra-slow on the blog lately. Basically between a whole stack of real life crap going on including (but not excluding); work being flat out and hectic, my sister being in ICU for a month or so, myself and the rest of the fam needing to look after her 3yo and her new born and managing the guild and trying to keep progression momentum rolling, I have had little to no time to even think of things to write about

I am planning on writing up the strats for the remaining Icecrown bosses and also a few posts about guild management etc.

Well it’s true, it’s been 1 year since I opened the doors at upyursh.com. It’s been in interesting year.

Its been an interesting ride for me personally, it’s my first blog and the first time that I thought I had something worth sharing in regards to wow.

Thanks to those regulars who check my posts and thanks to the other sites who felt my topics were worth linking.

So what does the future hold for upyursh.com you ask?

You may not have asked but I’m going to share anyways. I would like to look at bringing on another druid or two as regularly authors to offer alternative points of view and add new styles and direction for posts. I would also like to have the 3 specs covered as well.

On the back of this I would like to see the average visit increase and also increase the ping backs to upyursh.com

I would like to try increase the number of comments on my posts as well.

Other than that it’s business as usual, I’ll continue to share my self defined wisdom and thoughts with the community and hope they continue to be worthy of your views.

Mawson Lakes – South Australia: internet makes me cry a little inside

Well I’ve been having a few issues with my internet lately and thought I’d have a whinge! I live in Mawson Lakes, South Australia … the “technology hub” of Adelaide (apparantely). For those who dont know Mawson Lakes is a relatively new area in Adelaide, is organised by Delfin and for most parts is a great place to live.

That is however until your trying to get reliable high speed internet access, you see in the infinite wisdom of the company in charge of setting up the original infrastructure (telsta) they chose to go the easy road and installed old technology and RIMS instead of a genuine exchange with quality lines to the various “areas” of mawson lakes. Instead they created a fibre connection from an exchange several kilometers away and then installed RIMS around the place to provide phone lines and internet access.

The problem with this is that RIMS do not handle higher speeds of ADSL such as ADSL2+. I went from an old area (Prospect) with ADSL2+ at 21mbmps to an area I could get an unreliable ADSL connection. The best I can currently get is a 512k connection which SHOULD be fine, but it seems to me that on busy nights the net comes to a grinding halt causing sever latency in game and occasional disconnections from the server.

The more questions you ask about how are they going to solve this the less response you seem to get from them, it’s becoming something that annoys me all day haha
