Firstly have to say a MASSIVE /huzzah to Wow Interface who secured a large number of Beta Licenses for it’s Addon Authors, I was very surprised and happy
I haven’t even gotten into the dirty details of the beta yet, I have had such massive problems with the installation that I’ve only JUST gotten it going to the point I could log in and Transfer Upyursh Over.
Soooo first impressions;
OMG Painful, first the installation kept failing on my laptop, Error 0 or some shit about a bad file. I tried redownloading the installer package several times but no joy. This all happened while I was in the US, so my laptop was the only option I had. When I got home to lil’ ol’ ad’laide I installed it on my PC with little drama and run the Wow Loader… How Exciting
The Dreaded Patch
So after a 1hr installation process (my PC isn’t shit btw) I ran the Loader annndd 14gb of patches required, so I started the process off and come back a couple of hours later to find that I’m getting errors about my installation being damaged, and to run the repair tool. This kinda happened over and over again until it was fully downloaded ANNND wasn’t working.
I tried a few different things but in the end I just blew away the installation (and the 14gb I’d downloaded) and reinstalled, telling myself this will be the last attempt before I rage and kick someone in the nuts.
This time all went well and the Downloader seemed to work well.. One of the cool things is they have built the Upgrader so you can download the necassary files first and play (although no promises are given as to how well things will run). I have been able to log in and transfer Upy in, but am waiting for more content to download before I try run it because I was getting major download lag on loading screen (if you dont have the content it goes and grabs it for you).
I still have about 6gb to go, ill get that tonight and see how I go, hopefully I will get some time to have a play this weekend and give you my thoughts on some of the key changes, I’ll take some screenies of Org and a few other places of interest etc.
More to come sooooonly
