As we know since 3.2-3 their have been many people faced with connection issues, TOC being one of the main gripes with wow players.
Here is a list of things that you can try to improve performance and latency.
1. LeatrixLatencyFix
Try this registry hack here – http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info13581-LeatrixLatencyFix.html
This does similar to my Latency Fix in that it adjusts the expected response between the server and client. This is perfectly safe and a good option if you are not techy enough for my solution. The key difference is that in theory linux has a much more efficient network stack and so you should see slightly better result (this is debatable)
2. Disable Bad Addons
Bad Addons I have defined as addons that are inefficienct or that spam ingame channels to share unneeded information. The reason the following modules should be disabled during raids is that they;
- Are not needed for raiding
- Affect your own performance due to high memory or cpu usage.
- They send out a lot of data to shared ingame channels that affects other users (this has been identified as a contributor to dc issues in TOC etc).
If you would like an ingame get Addon Control Panel – http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addo … s/acp.aspx
The bads include;
- Gearscore – spammmmmmmm, if you have this installed you should be gkicked
- QuestHelper – notorious for high CPU and member usage.
- Carbonite – a lot of messages and shit flying around
- Guild Location Mods – if you have a mod that tells you where guildies are, disable it (maps often do this to show your guildies on your map).
- Recount – If you use recount turn of Syncing! Or get Skada
this list will grow as we identify more fail addons
3. Set maxfps to something more realistic
Setting the maxfps to something like 30 can help when a lot of data is being sent to your graphics card (i.e. whelps or fire being thrown).
I have the following as a macro setup;
/console maxfps 0
/stopmacro [mod]
/console maxfps 30
4. Turn off Combat Log
turning off combat log realy helped me too, so you can give that a shot too ![]()
Hopefully this will help you
By the way: Tunza rocks!

This was a great article, I enjoyed it! I tried all of the things you said.. but I can't seem to figure out how to actually turn off the combat log. Did you mean hide it behind the other windows? Or is there a way to actually turn it off for a set period of time?
When I talk about the combat log I mean the log output to C:\WorldofWarcraft\Logs
This can be enabled/disabled by typing /combatlog
You should see a message in your chat frame saying Combat Log was enabled (or disabled)
Combo of less people in H.ToC25 and being fairly ruthless turning off mods helps a lot. I did write a little addon to track down noisy addons in a raid. Lets you drop the banhammer on who's causing a lot of traffic. Once I tidy it up I'll send it to you (but you can get a similar thing from curse - I just like using my own utilities)
